Laurel Lakes is a single family residential neighborhood located on Palmer Road and Iona Rd. in Sarasota Florida, approximately 3.5 miles east of I-75. Laurel Lakes was developed in the 1990's and was originally named Barton Farms. From 1998 up unto 2000 you could pick your homesite and choose from 5 local builders in the community to build your custom home. Lennar Homes / US Home of Sarasota started building their homes in Laurel Lakes in 2001. I personally sold 18 homesites in Laurel Lakes in 2000 and I love this community.

Large lakes and a community clubhouse showcase this property, as well as tennis courts and a fitness center. This community has reclaimed water for irrigation. As of July 2008, a new Publix shopping center was built 1/2 mile down the road from this beautiful community. Some opposed this zoning change and it took many years and numerous times to get the approval from Sarasota County Commissioners.  You can also enjoy the Rothenbach park located across the street from the new Publix.
